In singapore we have waste chutes in flats for tossing our garbage into a shared waste recepticle. We also have, in many places bulk bins for bulky trash. In my estate there's *also* an understanding that working stuff is left near but not in the bin. So... I saw a dell desktop in decent condition, passed by, had a hunch, went back to pick it up and brought it back.
It was missing a hard drive (smart move) but otherwise.. i picked up a fully functional core2duo with roughly the same specs as the shared desktop. It has a fairly crappy video card (gforce 8600gs 128 mb - worse than the 8800gts 320mb), but it mostly runs windows 8 developer preview ok ;). There's one or two specifically video card related quirks, but i can live with those...
Gonna get 7 on it at some point, or XP, but still, its an awesome box to just find. specs on my wiki along with the rather boring revivial log, since everything worked. Cliffs notes version is core2duo E6550at 2.33 ghz and 2 gb ram. Very *squeeworthy*
