Mechanical keyboards are <3
Oct. 3rd, 2011 06:49 pmI've been one of those people who hasn't really bothered all that much about keyboards - the best keyboard i have at present (other than my shiny new keyboard) is a basic logitech. I had my eyes on a Model M, got my brother to order one, and it got cancelled, so i did some research. Turns out that razer makes a mechanical keyboard (uses switches, which are shiny tech), and challenger (our local equivilent of best buy or futureshop for you north americans) had it in stock .
So... i ended up getting a razer black widow ultimate. It also has a backlight, is nice and heavy, seems to have solid build quality. It also has
I think the biggest complaint i have is nothing else feels the same, and all my keyboards feel annoyingly off after typing for a few days. Its got neat stuff like switchable keymaps and macros in windows. Wierdly, macro keys arn't even detected in linux, and there's a second device detected as a mouse related to the keyboard in device manager. Details here
Proper review soon.
Half tempted to use the excuse to play with usbsnoop or other stuff, and teach myself to reverse engineer it for linux but not quite right now.
obligatory SU question here
