Mar. 22nd, 2011 10:14 amI have no idea what my brother said - but he apparently convinced mom to let me get a new laptop, and the budget is pretty close to what i think i need . She still needs to convince dad, but YAY.
If i have ever said anything bad about my brother (which i don't think i did) i take it back XD
Tried to talk about letting me save to get a new laptop and mom said no, and Dad's wondering why i get an allowance.
Considering its an amount i can't roll over, and certain things, i can't get without being sneaky, $300 is ok. It covers transport, occational soft drinks, and movies once in a while. I also manage to budget in the occational small hidable gear. IF i could save, more allowance would be nice, since i could probably spend it on things that i want, and constantly bitch about not being able to get.
What my parents get back tho? At least 4 regular cds, and a 7 hour MP3 cds were recorded. I don't like indian classical, so i would suppose were i charging, i'd charge extra. I've had to burn at least 200+ cds over time, with covers, at not inconsiderable expense of time. The equipment for this was eventually what i suggested, after an abortive attempt was made with what ended up being an overpriced tape deck.
Various decisions i made with respect to office IT have proven worthwhile - we keep a backup copy of all office emails on gmail accounts - initially for my dad, and my brother followed up. Thanks to this we were able to retrieve mails that were needed, with the potential of easily recovering amounts in excess of what i got paid as an allowance over probably my whole life.
I cover tech support - ensuring that office computers are running, and tend to get called up for things that i'd consider chargable for most folks. The office system runs quite efficiently despite being fairly old. Considering things, this 300 bucks covers that alone ;).
In addition i help out with housework when i don't have school. I walk the dog up to 3 of the 4 times a day and generally feed him - since my dad lacks the patience to and starts yelling when the dog won't eat.
