Mar. 19th, 2011 10:55 amI'm considering saving up for a new laptop. Parts of mine are falling off (the middle mouse button for one), and i've had this one since 07.
The model i'm considering arn't out yet - but assuming they cost about the same as the old ones, i'm looking at between 1.2k ish (for a thinkpad edge 12 inch) or somewhere around 2 to 2.5 K for a thinkpad X220 - which is already getting rave reviews. (there's apparently NO PLACE that has clear online prices. even lenovo's website. which annoys me. makes it harder to budget.)
Probably won't go for a totally tricked out model, it'd take me roughly 8 months to a year to save up for the x220, and ... well, i don't know how to ask my parents about it. I'll probably save up, then ask if i can.
of course, if i DO, this means, i'd have two mostly functioning laptops, and the current one (an r61) could go haiku, mainly linux, or even get hackintoshed.
(this is no means for certain. i'm THINKING of saving up, which'll take ages, and... such. so i may not.. and urgh... )
