Heroism isn't just a human quality.

Apparently US army bases in iraq and afganistan have a no feeding policy. Of course, soldiers tend to love dogs, and break rules, so they got fed. Three such dogs noticed an odd looking local, who happened to have a exposive vest, and decided to keep him away from their humans. One of them died when the sucide bomber blew himself up.

Those dogs didn't do it cause of their country, or religion, or anything. They did it cause someone was threatening the nice people who fed them, and well, did what had to be done, plain and simple. Two of the three survived, one died, and to me, all three of them were *heroic* in every sense of the word.
