Feb. 26th, 2011 10:32 amI've been debating with myself on whether i should get a new toy - its a fairly well rated budget DAC that people say works well with my current headphones - my home kit currently consists of my dad's backup recording gear (its fairly tiny and portable), and my laptop, and this would replace the recording gear.
I suppose the big appeal of this means, to me, my entire sound chain would consist of things i consider MINE as opposed to random reappropriated bits (yes, parental allowance has paid for it all, but eh). In addition, i'd actually have a proper playback setup as opposed to a random hodgebodgery of parts that just happened to lie around (nothing wrong with that). It would also let me compare a 'proper' setup to what i have now, for more awesome reviewyness.
Technically this also means that i could get higher impedance headphones in future, though, its unlikely since i favour gear i can use anywhere.
anyway, this is what i'm looking at, and may get this week if i decide to .
